The Government of Sierra Leone is in the process of rebuilding and
improving the institutions of government.
The Government has identified Public Procurement as an area that
needs urgent attention to overcome widespread allegations of corrupt
practices and
inefficiencies, and to build trust in the system. An
efficient public procurement system will ensure value for money of
government spending, which is essential
in a country that faces
enormous challenges recovering from a decade-long civil war. The
Government of Sierra Leone (GoSL) has received a loan/grant from the
World Bank and the United Nations Development Programmed (UNDP) to
undertake a comprehensive Public Procurement Reform. Under the guise
of this reform programmed, it will be of utmost importance to enable
the dissemination of information to ensure the buy-in and continued
support of all stakeholders.
